I assumed that it was an African American spiritual. &lt;BR/&gt; Over the years when I heard Dvorak's New World Symphony I recognized the tune. I've spoken to a few friends who know quite a bit about music, but they could not say whether Dvorak wrote the song or only incorporated an African American melody. It is fascinating story of a Bohemian composer who studied and incorporated African American music and helped promote respect for African American music and musicians.&lt;BR/&gt; Yours, Big Train</content><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/5334436280392962893/2284485078495206124/comments/default/6386740151495825616'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/5334436280392962893/2284485078495206124/comments/default/6386740151495825616'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://www.pleasecomeflying.com/2007/10/goin-home-antonin-dvorak-william-arms.html?showComment=1197513440035#c6386740151495825616' title=''/><author><name>Anonymous</name><email>noreply@blogger.com</email></author><thr:in-reply-to xmlns:thr='http://purl.org/syndication/thread/1.0' href='http://www.pleasecomeflying.com/2007/10/goin-home-antonin-dvorak-william-arms.html' ref='tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5334436280392962893.post-2284485078495206124' source='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/5334436280392962893/posts/default/2284485078495206124' type='text/html'/></entry></feed>
